Thermally Broken

Stellar Doors™ are available in four thermal options: as standard, standard with Poly fill, as thermally broken and as thermally broken with poly fill. A thermal front door has a thermal break built into the core of the aluminium door system.

Our thermal doors are joined with a Pour and Debridge thermal break separating the internal and external aluminium surfaces. This reduces the effect of the outside temperature being transferred inside your home.

Thermally broken options offer improved comfort, warmth and energy efficiency. The thermal break can also help to reduce condensation forming on the inside of the door in cooler months.

Thermal Performance

• R Value is the value of thermal resistance of a building element. The higher the value, the greater the insulation properties
• This below table shows the increases in R Value gained by combining Stellar Doors™ Thermal Break and Poly Fill when compared to a standard aluminium door in a typical NZ environment

We recommend that for all homes you consider the benefits of a thermally broken entrance door.

Customization

Our core range has 18 key door styles, please also note that doors can have the glass or flat panels moved to suit individual needs.

The majority of our aluminium doors have a thermal break option available (identified with a TB in the configurations section of each range).

Finishes

• We offer a core range of 36 attractive powder coat finishes, including textured, plus wood grain finish is available. 
• We also offer a premium range of six bright colour power coat finishes. Opting for a bright coloured front door makes a stunning statement to the entrance way and home.

Contact your local Altus Window Systems fabricator to discuss the specific entrance door for your home and building requirements.

Considerations:

• Glazing: if considering a glazed option, all doors use double-glazed glass units. Speak to your local Fabricator about the glass option best suited to your door. See our glass choices HERE
• Location: With north and northwest facing doors, thermally broken doors may experience slight temporary bowing due to the difference in temperature between the inside and the outside of the door, especially when exposed to direct sunlight.
• Colour: We recommend choosing lighter colours for north and northwest facing entrance doors, especially when exposed to direct sunlight. Dark coloured doors in direct sunlight will retain a significant amount of solar heat and could cause burns. Please consider the location of your door before selecting your colour

Please note:

• SR1 to SR8 can be manufactured with either aluminium or glass insert panels
• SR18 Stellar Doors™ are only available in non-thermal, and only in widths: 710,760, 810 and 860.
